Program Questions

A: Undergraduate nursing students receive all course materials and pay a flat cost per year (year one and year two) of the program. Graduate nursing students receive all course materials and pay a per-credit cost per quarter of the program.

A:  UG Nursing is going through a course material transition as of Fall 2024:

  • Students beginning the Nursing program from Fall 2024 on will be charged a one time flat rate of $2,600 for the newly selected course materials which includes all materials needed for the duration of the program.
  • Students who are returning Fall 2024 mid-program will finish their program using the former materials provider resources and will be charged $625 for their Year 2 bundle of course materials at the start of Quarter 4 (beginning of Year 2 of the program).

These flat rates will be charged to your student account at the beginning of the appropriate quarter.

A:  For undergraduate Nursing students we highly recommend the following path for opt-out. Because course materials are provided for 3 quarters at a time, undergraduate Nursing students should not opt for their 1st or 4th quarter in the program as these are the quarters in which you will receive all your required course materials. For Quarters 2, 3, 5 and 6, you will not be receiving any new Nursing course materials so we would highly recommend opting out for these quarters. If you are registered for non-Nursing courses during quarters 2, 3, 5 or 6 and find that the cost of being in the program is more financially beneficial based on those non-Nursing courses specifically you are welcome to remain in the program. Otherwise, you have the option to opt-out and purchase your non-Nursing required materials through the Akademos portal separately.

A:  No, when you re-start your course, the system will recognize that you have already received your course materials and therefore will not charge you again or send you any duplicate course materials.  If, however you decide to take an extended leave of absence for more than a year, your access to these course materials would have expired and you will need to obtain permission for extension to access these materials.   Contact the bookstore@spu.edu, should this apply to you, and we will assist you accordingly.

A:  Course materials for non-Nursing courses will be automatically provided to you at a rate of $18/credit. If you are enrolled in both Nursing and any other courses, in a given quarter, you will be charged separately and see both a “Falcon Advantage - Nursing” and “Falcon Advantage” charge on your student account.
