Davis named chair of SPU Board of Trustees
Cedric Davis, senior philanthropic advisor with the Seattle Foundation, is the new chair of the board of trustees at Seattle Pacific University.
Davis, who received his MBA from SPU in 2008, is an active community member currently serving on the boards of Mothers for Justice United, the CFOS Foundation, and Mentoring Urban Students & Teens. Some of his personal philanthropic interests and passions include education, mentorship, and youth development.
“As a proud Falcon, I am humbled to serve SPU in this capacity,” says Davis. “SPU has become a nationally recognized premier Christian university under the leadership of President Martin and his leadership team. I am honored to succeed Doug Backous and, alongside my fellow Trustees, eager to advance the mission of this great place.”
SPU President Daniel Martin says he looks forward to serving alongside Davis. “He brings a wealth of experience and skill, as well as a particular understanding and appreciation for Seattle Pacific’s mission, while leading with grace and wisdom.”
Davis joined the SPU Board of Trustees in 2014. He succeeds Dr. Doug Backous, who finished a four-year term as chair. Backous says, “Cedric will continue the board’s momentum and work in strengthening Seattle Pacific as one of the country’s leading Christian universities.”
