About the play
Held Together magically weaves together three artists’ stories as they live through pandemics: COVID-19, the 1918 influenza pandemic, and the 14th century’s Black Death. A poet, an actress, and a sculptor connect across time and space when they are drawn together by both their grief and passion to thrive.
Held Together is an original play devised by student members of the SPU theatre community under the direction of writer/director Candace Vance. The play was developed in the Autumn and Winter quarters of 2020 and 2021.
