Education: BA in Music - Flute Performance, Washington State University, Professional Teaching Certificate, Western Washington University. At SPU since 2022.

Janie McDavid joins the Seattle Pacific University Adjunct Music Faculty with more than 30 years of experience teaching Music Education in private and public schools.  She currently teaches PreK-5 General Music and 6-8 Middle School Band at the Holy Rosary School in Edmonds and will be teaching Applied Pedagogy of Brass, Applied Pedagogy of Woodwinds, Teaching General Music in Public Schools, and Practicum at SPU this year.  She will also be supervising Music Education interns out in the field.  

Mrs. McDavid began her Music career in the Northshore School District as an elementary itinerant Music Teacher teaching Elementary Band in the before school instrumental program, General Music, and PE.  She taught at The Bear Creek Christian School in Redmond and Woodinville where she taught General Music and Elementary and Middle School Band.  Mrs. McDavid also was an itinerant Elementary Band teacher and General Music teacher in the Shoreline and Edmonds School Districts. 

In addition to a teaching Elementary and Middle School Band, General Music (and sometimes PE), Mrs. McDavid enjoyed playing flute and piccolo in the Washington Wind Symphony and worked as a woodwind doubler for The Village Theater and other community theaters and bands in the Seattle area.  During the first part of her career, she also loved teaching lessons in her private flute studio.    

Mrs. McDavid continues to serve NAfME and WMEA by screening All NW and All State High School and Middle School instrumental applicants,  adjudicating Washington Regional and State Solo and Ensemble Contests and coordinates and conducts Middle School Honor Bands.
